Old School 1990’s Flashback
An incredible era of snowboarding, snowboard films & music!
Many view the 1990’s as the Golden Age of snowboarding - when it was more fresh, pure, rebellious, uniquely artistic, less mainstream, and the best riders were not really celebrities or household names - the riding was phenomenal, energetic, and inspiring and snowboarding had a big impact on things!
While it was a memorable and thrilling time for the sport, snowboarders did have to contend with some level of discrimination, as a good number of resorts around the U.S. did not allow snowboarding on their mountains! I well remember not being able to board at Aspen, Colorado or ride the Gad2 Chair and access its sick terrain at Snowbird, Utah - they were reserved for skiers only! Fortunately, things changed for the better a few years later at those resorts.
Here are 3 of my favorite snowboard films from the early to mid-1990’s - they capture the spirit of the times well & set the tone to help get me addicted to riding!
The pioneering film footage/style is awesome & these guys ripped! You can find digitally remastered versions on YouTube & the Internet.
